The opportunity existed to work with a traditional glass manufacturer to utilise the traditional, but increasingly rare, skill for hand silvering mirrors and combine this with their contemporary expertise in processing and water jet cutting glass. The frame and ‘legs’ of the mirror are integrated into the mirror profile, and to compound this visual conceit, the frame is made from clear glass rather than being sandblasted for example. The effect is interesting in that the mirror invites you able to walk through it into another world….just like Alice.
