Han is a comprehensive, multipurpose chair programme whose logic and purity of design allows for a series of variants to be successfully incorporated; arms, stacking, single and double sided upholstered seat and back pads as well as various stain and wood finishes.
Han has a deliberately rigorous and reduced aesthetic that gently plays with traditional chair proportions and construction techniques. The chair is wider than average to give a generosity of sit and to allow arms to be included within the seat ‘footprint’. The visual absence of a back rail allows the laminations to flow into the underframe whose rails are chamfered to retain a minimal visible profile while providing maximum strength; the chair has passed the most extreme testing making it suitable even for prison use. The laminations for the seat and back are subtly, but effectively shaped to ensure the chair even in its most basic form is comfortable.
